"Sometimes it's hard to give my hard earned money to non-profit organizations because I never see where the money goes.  Giving to Yachad allows me to see where my money has gone and I can even work on the house with the supplies that I helped to buy!  It' very grass roots"

Why Give?

Your donations go directly toward paying for materials and labor for repairing homes of lower-income Washington area residents.  These repairs allow residents to remain in housing they can afford, in the neighborhoods where they’ve raised families, established roots, and formed community bonds.

Yachad’s programs rely heavily on volunteers and construction professionals who generously donate their time, labor, and materials to our projects.  Many times, however, this generosity is simply not enough to get the needed work done.  Especially when leaky roofs must be replaced before homes can be repaired, when extensive electrical and plumbing work is required, and where damage to a home is substantial, money is needed to pay for the labor and materials necessary to restore the home.

Experience has shown that even a relatively small amount of money to pay for materials often results in a much larger return in donated and discounted labor.  With this financial support, Yachad accomplishes major repairs that truly transform lives.

Please consider sharing a portion of your birthday, anniversary or b’nai mitzvah gifts, a percentage of money spent on a renovation or new home, a percentage of money earned building or designing a new home, or just sharing as a celebration of your accomplishments and earnings.

Here are some examples of what your donations can do:

  • $500 pays for three hours of electrical or plumbing repairs
  • $1,000 buys new kitchen appliances
  • $2,500 repairs drywall and repaints a home
  • $3,000 pays for an access ramp for a homeowner with disabilities
  • $5,000 replaces a roof
  • $10,000 replaces a roof, repairs ceilings and drywall, and repaints a home

Your family or business can be sure that your funds will be put to good use and that Yachad will creatively combine your generous donation with other donations and donated and discounted services to accomplish great things.

To donate, please send a check payable to Yachad to us at 1776 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., Suite 810, Washington, D.C. 20036.  For more information, e-mail info@yachad-dc.org.
