About Yachad
What is Yachad?
Yachad is the Jewish Housing and Community Development Corporation of Greater
Washington, D.C. Yachad means together in Hebrew, and that's how we pursue our
mission-together with synagogues, churches and other nonprofit organizations working
to rebuild urban neighborhoods. We mobilize the resources of the Jewish community
to support commercial and housing redevelopment. We bring in skilled Jewish professionals
-architects, builders, attorneys, and engineers--who donate their time to assist
with all phases of development. We bring in Jewish volunteers to paint, haul,
and repair deteriorating homes and community buildings. And we provide targeted
financial support as a catalyst to seed new development.
Building strong and vital communities isn't our only goal. Our mission is to build
bridges too--partnerships between Jews and the spanerse neighborhoods of our extended
community. Yachad's partnerships strive to translate our desire to form interfaith
and interracial bonds from words into action.
What is Yachad's relationship with Network For Good?
Network For Good, an online philanthropy website, is contributing its online donation
tools and resources to help make Yachad Giving a success. By clicking on the “Donate

Making a Donation
How do I make a donation?
It's easy... Click the “donate now” button on the Yachad Website and
it will take you to a co-branded Yachad/Network For Good page. Click the “Donate
Now” button. Enter the information requested, including the donation amount,
your name, address, and billing information. When you complete the donation process,
you will receive an on-screen and e-mail receipt.

How does the Yachad Giving System work?
Once an inspanidual is on the co-branded Yachad/Network For Good web page, the
donor simply clicks the Donate Now button and follows the directions. When inspaniduals
make a donation through the our Giving System, they can be certain their charitable
donation is 100% tax deductible and that Yachad is recognized by the Internal
Revenue Service and in good standing.
A public charity called PipeVine processes all donations for Network for Good,
distributes the contribution to Yachad.
Like any tax-deductible charitable contribution, any contribution using the Network
for Good Giving System cannot be cancelled or returned once it has been completed.
In an effort to know who has donated to Yachad, donation information is shared
between Network for Good and Yachad, unless the donor asks to remain anonymous.
However, all donor information given to Yachad by Network for Good is not used,
shared, sold or otherwise disclosed to anyone. For more information, read Yachad's
and Network for Good's comprehensive privacy policies.

My donation was denied. Why?
To process a donation, the billing information you provide must match the information
on file with your credit card company. For example, the phone number you enter
must match the phone number on file with the credit card company. Please be sure
to review your information carefully. If you continue to have problems donating,
contact your credit card issuer directly.

Can I specify how Yachad may use my donation?
When you make a donation using Network for Good, you may specify how you'd like
your donation to be used by Yachad. Network for Good will pass along your request
with the donation. Yachad will do it's best to honor these requests, but is not
under any obligation to do so. If you are concerned about your donation being
used for a specific purpose, please contact
Yachad directly concerning your request.

Can I dedicate my donation to someone or make a donation
on behalf of a person?
Yes, you can dedicate a donation to someone in specific, or make a donation on
behalf of another person. Network for Good will pass along the dedication request
with your donation.

I would like to donate stock. Will Yachad accept
stock as a charitable donation?
Yes, Yachad has now made it EASY to Use Appreciated Assets to Make a Charitable
Gift. In most cases, it is beneficial to use appreciated stock that you have held
for longer than one year, in lieu of cash, to make a contribution to a charity.
By transferring the marketable securities to Yachad, you pay no capital gains
tax on the appreciation but can still deduct the full fair market value of the
gift (up to 30% of your adjusted gross income) at the time of the transfer. You
can even increase the benefit by using the cash you would have gifted -- coupled
with the tax savings - to repurchase the stock with a higher cost basis. As always,
we suggest that you consult your own financial advisors to see if this is advantageous
for you.
Example: If you purchased some stock years ago for $1,000 and it is now
worth $5,000, an outright transfer of that stock to YACHAD would result in a charitable
deduction of $5,000. In addition, you would permanently avoid paying capital gains
tax on the $4,000 of appreciation.
We have a one-page (DTC) instruction sheet on making gifts of appreciated assets
for you or your broker. For more information, please call Audrey Lyon at YACHAD
- 202-296-8563.

Why does my credit card statement show Network For
Good's name instead of Yachad?
Although 100% of your donation goes directly to Yachad, the transaction and credit
card verification is processed by Network for Good and PipeVine which are both
501c3 organizations.

Tax Issues
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. Donations made through Network for Good are 100% tax deductible because Yachad
qualifies under the IRS rules for tax deductions. When you make a donation, be
sure to save and/or print the confirmation e-mail you receive from Network for
Good for your tax records. If you have any questions, however, as always, please
consult a tax professional.

Will I get a paper receipt for my donation?
Network for Good automatically provides an on screen and e-mail receipt for each
transaction. When you make a donation, be sure to save and/or print the confirmation
e-mail you receive from Network for Good for your tax records. PipeVine, the nonprofit
processing donations for Network for Good, will mail out paper receipts for donations
over $250 at the end of each year. If you need a paper receipt for IRS purposes,
please contact PipeVine directly at networkforgood@pipevine.org

What is a charity in good standing with the IRS?
For an organization to be in good standing, it must be a public charity recognized
by the IRS and we must not have received any information that it has problems
with its public accountability. For example, an organization would not be in good
standing if state regulators sanctioned it for improper use of funds.
Donation Preferences
Can I make an anonymous donation?
Yes. All Prefered Giving Information will be given to Yachad if you authorize
Network For Good to do so.

Is the transaction secure?
Yes, Network for Good uses industry-leading Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology
to keep your personal information as secure as possible. Network for Good helps
to protect your information by working with partners that provide a secure and
safe environment for credit card donations.

How do you protect my privacy?

use of the Internet. And, we believe that you should have control over who receives
your personal information, whether it concerns where you live, what your interests
are, or how you choose to conduct transactions. Network for Good will not use
the personal information that you provide, except to complete the transaction.
In fact, all information you give to Network for Good will remain completely confidential,
unless you give your permission to disclose. You may also choose to make your
donation anonymously. Neither Yachad nor Network for Good will ever sell, trade,
or rent your personal information to other inspaniduals or companies. Read more

Technical Help
What is a PDF file?
PDF (portable document format) is a method for distributing printed documents
on the Web. The advantage of PDF over HTML is that PDF files can be viewed and
printed with the same layout and fonts as when they were sent to the printers.
The Yachad Web site uses PDF files to distribute information that may not otherwise
be available offline.
By making these documents available online, we do not have to send you something
in the mail, and you can get it from us in a matter of seconds. It saves time
and can be printed too!

Why can't I open the Yachad Newsletter or Printable
Map?
These documents were created as PDF files. To view and/or print a PDF file, you
must have a current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This can be downloaded FREE
at the adobe.com website. Once installed, you
will be able to enjoy web pages that can be enlarged for online reading, or printed
to read later offline. Best of all, pages will look the same on any browser on
nearly every platform.

Why are my graphics are blurry?
Most likely you have your graphics setting set for compression applied. This essentially
recompresses graphics that are already compressed. Sometimes the outcome makes
graphics look quite blurry. If you are using an AOL browser window, you can fix
this problem by resetting your graphics preferences. Just go to AOL Keyword: preferences...
Choose WWW preferences... Choose the Graphics tab and turn compression off. If
you are using a different ISP or browser, check your web preferences specific
to your ISP or browser environment.

How can I contact the Webmaster?
For technical problems or questions for the webmaster, please email Webmaster@Yachad.
