The Reznick Group Gives Back

Monday, September 10th, 2012

David Reznick of Reznick Group wanted to really feel Yachad’s impact first hand before we honored him at this year’s November 4th Community Builders Bash at the Katzen Arts Center.  And so he and his employees at Reznick Group reported for work on Friday not at their Bethesda offices, but instead at Ms. Washington’s home in the Brightwood neighborhood of Washington, DC.  Lead by one of  Yachad’s trusted Construction Managers, Justin Barrows, the group scraped, sanded and painted Ms. Washington’s house, giving her more than just a fresh coat of paint, but a fresh start in a home she has lived in for over 30 years.

Reznick Group not only worked on the home, but sponsored the repairs as well.  With sponsorship funds of $5000, Yachad was able to do major plumbing repairs, drywall repairs, roofing repairs and electric repairs before the volunteers heading into the home.  Over the years of living on a fixed income, Ms. Washington struggled to keep up with the major repairs that were needed.  Thanks to David Reznick, Reznick Group and Yachad, Mrs. Washington  no longer has these worries.

Check out some great photos from the day.  More are on our Facebook page here.

Win for the Nats and Yachad United!

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

Last Thursday, Yachad took 30 young professionals out to the ballgame to watch the Nats win from a gorgeous Party Suite.  As part of Yachad United, Yachad’s new network for young professionals looking to do more than happy hours, we organized a mini-fundraiser for our next repair project which will take place on Sunday, November 18th.

This mini-fundraiser, which brought in nearly 1000 dollars, was possible only thanks to the generosity and dedication of the Washington Nationals.  Drinks were generously donated by Stella Artois.

Special thanks to: Marla Tanenbaum, Jonathan Stahl, Franz Shelko, Melissa Smith, and Brian Rightnour.

A Labor Day Facelift

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

This Labor Day for Yachad’s We the People program, where we invited individuals to come volunteer on federal holidays, we gave Rising Sun Baptist Church’s parsonage house a face lift. You may remember the major interior rehab work we have been doing there from this blog entry, well here are some before and after shots from yesterday.

We aren’t done, but the job will be finished by our trusty Construction Manger, Richard Feldman.
