Who runs the Our City Film Festival? Yachad: the Jewish non-profit for affordable housing. Yachad's mission is to maintain Washingotn, D.C.'s communities and neighborhoods by repairing lower-income homeowner's housing and working with minority churches to rejuvinate city blocks for the communities that have been in the area for generations. By mobilizing Washington, D.C.'s Jewish and otherwise contracting community as well as volunteers, Yachad repairs close to 50 homes through Greater Washington every year. Check out how you can roll up your sleeves, pick up a paint brush and help Washington stay a city for all people-regardless of how much they have in the bank. Click here! |
Who can submit a film? Anyone who has done a film that takes place in or is about Washington, D.C., is free to submit a film. For the 2008 film festival, winners of the festival were both local and out of town, first time, student and professional filmmakers. Submit a film now. |
Who attends the festival? For the 2008 festival, we sold out, so the short answer is...a lot of people! Ranging in age, race, sex, and neighborhoods, hundreds of Washingtonians came together to watch films about their city. All are welcome, but parents are encouraged to research the film's appropriateness before bringing children.
