As you might already know, Yachad means together in Hebrew. All of our programs are designed so that people from different backgrounds, races, and religions can come together and help the greater community. However, never before has one our programs been so literal in its togetherness.
On Sunday, November 4th, fourteen volunteers from George Washington University's Interfaith Community Service Group (IFCSG) painted the apartment of
a Northeast family in need. Students from the Jewish (Hillel), Muslim and Catholic groups on campus spent the day giving the family a fresh new coat of paint- and
a fresh new start.

The family, consisting of four children under the age of 15 and a full-time working mother and father, had been hoping for a volunteer group to come. The walls of the apartment had not been painted for many years, and the effect of four children in a three bedroom apartment had turned the once white walls into a hazy gray.
Now that the walls are painted, Yachad has arranged for a professional carpeting service to replace the carpet through out the apartment. Thanks to the IFCSG volunteers' hard work, dedication and willingness to help, the family will have a new found sense of safety and pride in their home.
